Welcome!

To the Sunshine Coast Show Choir.

Established in 2019, the Sunshine Coast Show Choir is one of the leading performing choirs in the region, bringing together people of all backgrounds to sing, dance and perform.

No matter your musical background or experience, our Choir provides a safe and welcoming environment for you to spread your wings and build confidence as part of a wonderfully supportive group.

If you’re looking for a rewarding experience and the opportunity to meet new friends, consider joining the Sunshine Coast Show Choir!

How it works.

What is a show choir?

A Show Choir is a performance group combining choral singing with choreographed movement or dance, sometimes adding a thematic element to the show.

Led by Choir Director Jen, you’ll learn and perform songs from all sorts of genres such as rock, pop, jazz, musical theatre, soul, disco, country, and more!

What does it involve?

Our main Show Choir rehearses once a week on Tuesday evenings, and performs a number of shows and concerts throughout the year.

As an alternative to the main Show Choir, offering a similar experience with a lower commitment, we also run the Friday Crew choir group, which will rehearse a smaller portion of the main Choir’s performances, and join the main Choir for selected songs at the end of semester show.

Our groups are very social and supportive, and it’s a great way to let your hair down and have a little fun.

How to audition.

Currently, the Sunshine Coast Show Choir has around 50 members in its ensemble.

We welcome new auditions in January and July for the following semester. We run two semesters (or ‘seasons’) a year.

Membership for the main Choir is $275 per semester, and includes access to our full rehearsal platform which features choreography videos, vocal part recordings, sheet music, tips and tricks, performance calendar and much more. Rehearsals are from 6.30-8.30pm on Tuesdays.

Membership for the Friday Crew choir group is $198 per semester. Rehearsals are from 1-2pm on Fridays.

The audition comprises just a few easy steps. It may look a little daunting, but remember, we’re all here to learn and have fun!

Step 2: Vocal & Movement Auditions

At your audition, the first part is a 10 minute vocal audition with Choir Director Jen and an assistant. You’ll perform a one minute solo performance of a song of your choice. We’ll also discuss vocal part, and conduct a brief range and harmony test.

Following the vocal audition, you will learn 30-60 seconds of a dance routine with one of our choreographers.

Step 3: First Rehearsal

Come to a rehearsal and make sure you found your tribe and let us see how you fit!

The Director's decision will be made immediately after the first rehearsal and is final.
